YOUR QUEST TO BE IMMORTAL-WHAT IT IS AND WHY DO IT.

In an article written by Michael Kinsley that appeared in Vanity Fair Magazine in April, 2016, titled From Here to Eternity, the author referred to the two challenges to strengthen one’s posthumous reputation. “You want to be remembered favorably, but first you need to make sure that you’ll be remembered at all. MOST PEOPLE AREN’T”

It’s an excellent article but the word most seems rather generous. Time shrinks the memories of all persons except for the rarest. The best we can hope for is two generations of vivid remembrance, and most are confined to one or less. As future generations gain interest in their ancestors, the best results are found from the source….us! You can’t get it from a website or DNA swab that results in more questions than answers. It’s upon us the present generations to set out a clear and path to being remembered.

If future generations are left with gathering old photos, writings, work product, fourth hand tales and your obituaries, yes, they can learn only scale the surface of the wonders of your life. [Those who leave some honored evidence like a plaque, newspaper mention, or one’s name banished on a significant wall of a nonprofit or business, the better. Simply, the more you leave and planned evidence of who you were the more future generations will remember you. Most importantly, you can impact their lives for virtually centuries.

A note of caution, do not rely on cemetery visitation leave it to cemeteries for long term remembrance (unless they change). A marked grave is respectful, but most graves are not visited and, ashes are tossed, because generally they, at this time, serve as a short-term memory and occurrence, instead of an experience for the visitor. How many times have you heard people say that they want to do something for the experience?

You will see from reading the next article we aim to change the death industry. It’s been said, people die twice, physically and when a name is ceases to be uttered.

But changes can occur, and you can do it…. with help…. This bleak forecast for keeping one’s legacy alive for multiples of generations can be remedied no matter what age you are. The core of this remedy is to invest time, some modest funds and focus in a quest be immortal.
